INFLUENZA PREVENTION AND CONTROL 2008-2009

The following information is from the Newsletter "CITY HEALTH INFORMATION " of
New York City.

1)Vaccination is now recommended for all children aged 6 months through 18 years.
2)Every adult who wanted to be immunized should receive an annual influenza vaccination unless there are contraindications.
3) All healthcare workers should be vaccinated every year;mske sure you and your staff get influenza shots early in the season.
4) Vaccination should continue throughout the influenza season.
The vaccination may reduce the risk of becoming ill with influenza. The influenza is a serious illness and it is reported 36,000 deaths and 226,000 hospitalization annually in the USA. The cost is about 10.4 billion dollars.Annual influenza vaccination is the most effective way of preventing influenza and its complications, according to the report in the newsletter.
