Kate Kelland from Reuters reports that three major genes link to Alzheimer's disease of about 20% people. This is a significant discovery in 15 Years time. Before two large studies had been conducted and found that APOE4 gene is a gene is a risk factor affecting the disease.
"If we were able to remove the detrimental effects of these genes through treatments, we could reduce the proportion of people developing Alzheimer's by 20 percent," Julie Williams, a professor of Neuropsychological Genetics at Britain's Cardiff University, told a news conference in London, reported by Kate Kelland.
This is important for many people and hope the drug companies will be able to come with necessary medicine for this disease.
