Love casteth out fear. How many times could we read in theScripture "Do not be afraid?
A multitude of times.
When Zechariah saw an angel of the Lord standing at the right A multitude of times.
side of the altar of incense, he was just terrified. Archangel Gabriel
said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah for your prayer has been
heard."
In a similar tone, Archangel Gabriel also said, "Do not be afraid Mary
for you have found favor with God." The messenger of God always
assure and comfort them in times of fear and bewilderment.
As the shepherds were watching their flock, an angel of the Lord
appeared to them. The angel also said, "Do not be afraid ... for I
am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people."
The opposite of love is fear. Fear is insecurity of what the future
holds for us. A strong faith even the size of a mustard seed
can undermine fear.
The celebration of the birth of Jesus affirms our hope in waiting...
for we do not know the hour when he comes again. The Lord assures us
in Matthew 16:20, " And remember, I am with you always, to the end
of the age."
Let's celebrate! Merry, Merry Christmas!
