Reflection by Jane Pimenta
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matt 6:19-21

We have a balcony joining our computer room. Throughout the day, pigeons come in with bits of dried twigs looking for an empty space to build their nests. We are constantly shooing them away, but before they fly off the twigs are left behind! Last week we put netting on the grill to prevent them from coming in, so we are now at peace and no more twigs to pick up!!

Our hearts are like my balcony, they are a place for different kinds of things to come in and take root, and consequently disturb us. Those things one day become our total focus and Jesus is no longer Lord of our hearts.

Let us sit quietly, see what is cluttering our hearts and keeping us absorbed in ourselves while we are unmindful of what God is offering us.
(Thanks to Jane Pimenta for this wonderful reflection about focusing on God). New World
