WISDOM OF SOLOMON: REFLECTIONS FORWARDED BY MARIA CASSIA

WISDOM OF SOLOMON

"For who can learn the counsel of God?
Or who can discern what the Lord wills?
For the reasoning of mortals is worthless,
and our designs are likely to fail;
... but who has traced out what is in the heavens,
who has learned your counsel, unless you have given
wisdom, and sent your spirit from on high?
and thus the paths of those on earth were set right,
and people were taught what pleases you,
and were saved by wisdom." Wis 9:13-18

*Thus, it is important that we submit ourselves to the will of God.
As God has showered the prophets and saints with wisdom, it is
highly possible that we gain wisdom, too, if we ask.
"Ask and it will be given to you."

Then, we will learn what pleases God, the object of our yearning and
end. It is only by the gift of the Holy Spirit that our paths are made
right. From the words of St Theresa of Avila, "Nothing matters, only
God sufficeth." St Theresa discovered this plain truth through the
powerful intercession of St. Joseph, the head of the Holy Family on
earth.
