“If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Luke 6:29-30
This teaching of Jesus is greatly admired and resented at the same time! Bad enough letting someone do something unpleasant to me once, I honestly say, I cannot imagine I would be stupid to let them do it again!! Yet Jesus is saying just that! If we read Act 23:1-5 Paul retaliated too. This is certainly not an easy teaching of Jesus. As Paul grew in God’s Word and Will, he showed us how to understand and accept this teaching. Read Romans 12:17-21
Jesus and Paul both call us to avoid the ‘natural’ and rise to the ‘supernatural’ Let us pray for this grace.
