SECOND POEM: SONG OF SONGS BY MARIA CASSIA

Beloved:  I hear my love,
                 See how he comes
                 leaping on the mountains,
                 bounding over the hills,
My love is like a gazelle,
                 like a young stag.
The Song of Songs 2: 8-9

*  The Song of Songs consists of a series of
poems attributed to the encounter of King Solomon with his
beloved.  The mood of the poems are romantic and
sweet!  It can be regarded as a marriage-song.

On a deeper level, the Song of Songs could be an allegory
for the great love of God for His people.  This could take
place also in 'ecstasy' experienced by saints due to their intense
love for God Almighty.
