AS THE DEER PANTETH: POEM BY CYNTHIA ABEGAIL
AS THE DEER PANTETH
The deer as thirsty and parched as a brownish-red land,
Swiftly passed by and searched; dizzy and dry as sand
Its colour is pearly white with shades of brown of slate,
Its feet as swift as the stork that awaits a new morn date!
As the deer panteth, I remembered my soul that craves,
For the One that can satisfy eternal longing of embrace
For the One that gives living waters flowing in oases!
That purifies the mud that seeps as one strays to gashes.
As the deer panteth, I recalled my being that is created,
In Thine image, pure and holy which I have tarnished
But Thine Voice called in the dreary night of dalliance,
I run to the Only Source and my thirst was vanquished!
