Do Not Be Afraid

Aside from exhausting all humanly possible ways to be physically safe and secure, righteous people must avoid making enemies, and defeat perceived or real enemies by turning them into friends. Refrain from anger and turn away from wrath, do not fret – it leads only to evil (Psalm 37:8)

A calm and soft answer alleviates the hatred of the impulsive attacker who has lost his proper perspective, always be humble, never seek to win over any argument or situation if such will lead to violence. It may seem to the worldly that we are a loser when we refuse to fight back, but in fact we are the one who emerge victorious because of our self control and refusal to go down to the level of the unrighteous.

We can still be righteously angry, but in our anger, we must not sin. We must avoid saying or doing anything that violates God’s commands and which we will just regret later. Wait for emotions to cool down and then settle conflicts in a civilized and Godly manner. It is so easy to get angry with the people we love because we may often take them for granted. We must avoid hurting our children, spouse, parents, siblings, relatives, friends, colleagues, and neighbors. We can do this when we always strive for humility, unselfishness, kindness, understanding, mercy and love.

If we are afraid and cannot sleep in peace, there is only one problem, and that is, we forget to remember God, we are created in God’s image and there is divinity within us. God gave us the power to rule over not only lesser creatures but also over forces of evil. We have the power to cast out and bind demons, in the mighty name of His Son, Jesus Christ.

My greatest fear is for my children’s safety and innocence. The Holy Spirit led me to this verse which set me free and healed me: All your sons will be taught by the Lord, and great will be your children’s peace. In righteousness you will be established; Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear; Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you. – Isaiah 54:13-14
