MY QUEST AND MY YEARNING

The rain is over and the sun shines with strength,
I gazed at the palanquin and my heart endeared
At the vision of the gazelle ravishing my heart,
The quest of my life, the source of my being!

Like a deer that runs at the sight of the oases,
As I heard Thine Voice, I left all of the days,
You alone suffice for me, you alone amazes
You alone will quench the thirst that allays.

The vineyard with cedar trees, tall and willowy,
A place seems paradise of apple trees and doves,
But my eyes sought for you as I soar like an eagle,
And my ears hearken to you as you carried me!

Wild does gently waves like ripples in a brook,
The fresh water as clear as crystal soothes me,
But Thine presence as my perfect longing day
My quest and my yearning, my love by the well!

Inspired by Song of Songs and the Samaritan Woman
by the Well
Maria Cassia Austero
