"Supermoon: Stargazers share photos as moon lights up sky"

"A supermoon rose over Australia on Sunday evening, providing a spectacular winter sky for stargazers.
The moon has reached the point closest to Earth on its orbit, making Sunday's full moon the biggest and brightest of the year.
Astronomer Alan Duffy says the moon was up to 14 per cent larger and around 50,000 kilometres closer than usual.
"This is the actual brightest, closest point of the three full moons so this is the supermoon to check out if you can," he said.
The first supermoon of the year occurred last month on July 12, while the third - and final - supermoon for 2014 will appear in September.
Mr Duffy says that event will be "a little less impressive but still should be pretty gorgeous". "
