Ode to a Dove

Swiftly above the waters
above the high mountain,
Hovering the pinnacle
of the ark its the fountain

Incandescent white so pale
as tender as the dawn
Fluttering as gentle breeze,
ushering God's Spirit!

At the Jordan, where
beauty by streams of water,
Prepare the way, level
the mountains and valleys

A righteous man of locust
and honey amidst the reeds
Prepare the way,
to the Word made flesh...

As the water flowed like
the moon rising from the sea,
Perplexed with the presence
of someone greater,

Not worthy to carry the
blooms of thy sandals
By the will of the Father,
nothing suffices...

Blushing cheeks and demeanor
 of awe and wonder,
The fragrance exudes
beyond the scent of the dew

Roses are red, violets are blue,
he whispers with love,
A simple dove passed
with a gentle hue...

Doves, messengers of
God's love and peace adieu,
Flames of fire as gifts
arrayed by the vision renew

Hearts contrite and pure
as mellowed summer eves
Joy truly a mystery like
a fair bride in utter bliss!
