DO'S AND DON'TS: TRAVEL BY CYNTHIA ABEGAIL

DO'S AND DON'TS (TRAVEL TO ICELAND)

"Have a remedial shot of brennivin (literally burnt wine)
at hand if you intend to sample such Icelandic delicacy as
hakarl (putrefied shark meat) or sursadir hrutspungar
(pickled rams organs).

Don't approach light-coloured soil around hot springs and
fumaroles. The typically thin crust can collapse and anything
that falls through will emerge hard-boiled (if at all).

Have ready access to about twice as much money as you
think you are going to need and then some more for a few
necessary incidentals."
