On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, Luke 24:1-2
The gospel of John adds they went to the tomb while it was still dark! In those days there would be no street lights, so maybe with lamps they had to walk in the dark, and their destiny was a graveyard! They made no excuses for themselves, they loved the Lord with all their hearts!
As I write, I think of the many times I hide behind ‘feeling tired’ and so fail to reach out, today I grumbled about the additional work dumbed on me! At times like this I forget completely that if I want to be a disciple of Jesus there is always, always a price to pay! Do you too feel the strain of discipleship? Let us pray together for the grace to stay committed and be a sign of God’s Love to all.
(Thanks to Jane Pimenta for a concise reflection of the Christian belief, that Jesus Rose from the dead, the foundation and tenet of Christianity. To be a disciple is a commitment for better or for worst, let us abide in the Lord whose victory is evident in the Resurrection when He conquered death, sin and evil! Well done!) NewWorld
