REFLECTIONS FROM THE BOOK OF JONAH by CYNTHIA ABEGAIL
Jonah began his journey through the city, and had gone by a single day's wait announcing, "Forty days more and Nineveh shall be destroyed," when the people of Nineveh believed God; they proclaimed a fast and all of them, great and small, put on sackcloth...When God saw by their actions how they turned from their evil way, he repented of the evil that he had threatened to do to them; he did not carry it out. Jonah 3:4, 10
God gave time to people of Nineveh to repent. When God saw that the people turned away from their sins, God relented his plan to punish the people ! What a beautiful and meaningful story.
At present, God send messages for people to repent. Enough time is given and all avenues are spread that God wants people to revert their old ways of sin and renew again their broken relationship wiRefth God.
God's mercy is boundless; remember Mary Magdalene who was forgiven unconditionally! Remember the thief on the day of the crucifixion of Jesus! Yes, let us not be ashamed to return to Abba Father. His arms are open to embrace you as His Child! If we stray, let us repent with contrite hearts and be confident that God loves and will forgive us from sunrise to sunset as long as we humble ourselves before Him, believe in the Good news of the gospel and love God with all our hearts, souls and minds. We must love our neighbours, too, of course!
