Exodus 11: 8-12 "THE PROMISED LAND"

"You shall therefore keep all the commandment which I command you this day, that you maybe strong, and go in and take possession of the land which you are going over to possess, and that you may live long in the land which the Lord swore to your father's to give to them and to their descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey.  For the land which you are entering to take possession of it is not like the land of Egypt, from which you came, where you sowed your seed and watered it with your feet, like a garden of vegetables, but the land which you are going to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water by the rain from heaven, a land which the Lord your God cares for; the eyes of the Lord your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year."

(Exod 11: 8-12

The commandment of the Lord in the New Testament is a summary of the ones in the Old Testament.  The New is the fulfilment of what was prophesied in the Old with the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Obedience to God's 1st great commandment and the 2nd commandment about loving our neighbour is still in fore!  This is the irony of it!  In Egypt, they have to labour in the land but what God is giving them is the Promised Land, the land of milk and honey.  God is the King of all!  What God bestows is a gift!

As in a Bible passage, "God provides for those who love him, even in their sleep."  Of course, we still have to earn our bread. It just goes to say that when one loves Him with all his mind, heart and soul, God never take it for granted.  One's seeking of God's Kingdom is of course rewarded, not in silver or gold or in money, but with the gifts of the Holy Spirit which are peace, love, joy, unity, prosperity, abundance and a share in God's righteousness!

These are gifts that never fade, that are more valuable than worldly wealth.  Come and drink of the upwelling streams of God's mercy and love.

Let us pray today that we will be blessed by the gifts of obedience, faithfulness and wisdom to reach the Promised Land.  In our journey, there maybe hurdles and trials but let us keep our eyes focused on our goal:  to be with the Heavenly Father at the appointed time, to be consoled in His Presence in a blissful life in eternity!  Lord, hear our prayer.  All in Jesus Name, Amen.
