"In all truth I tell you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born through water and the Spirit, what is born of human nature is human, what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be surprised if I say: you must be born from above. The wind blows where it pleases; you can hear it's sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going, so it is with everyone who is born of of the Spirit." (Jn 3: 5-8).
Even Nicodemus was surprised with the Lord's answer because how can an old person be back again to the womb of a mother and be reborn again. However, Jesus was talking on a different level. Jesus was focusing on the way a man is reborn of the water and Spirit.
Being born from above is allegorical. It's deeper meaning is: being born of the Spirit is sanctioned by the Father in heaven. It does not just come but only through humble hearts. Why? It is because it will take humility to accept what God likes us to be, His children!
The world has a particular allure, the charisma of fame, wealth, vanity, pride and all works of the flesh. Who would not be swayed by millions? But the point is: be satisfied with what God has given you. The quest for too much wealth is incompatible with God's plans for you. Wealth is good if distributed to the poor and needy. We do not mean that you seek to be a pauper! What we meant is: Seek first the Kingdom of God and everything will be added unto you.
Let us pray today that God will help us to be truly born from above, to have a true conversion of the heart. Let us beg the Lord for the gift of humility and simplicity and also that we maybe able to discern His will for us in our lives. In Jesus Holy Name. Amen
