LK 12: 54-56 Signs of the Times

"He also said to the crowds, "When you see (a) cloud rising in the west you say immediately that it is going to rain--- and so it does; and when you notice that the wind is blowing from the south you say it is going to be hot--- and so it is.  You hypocrites!  You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky; why you do not know how to interpret the present time?

How wonderful that Lord Jesus quoted facts from weather so accurately.  Not a surprise.  Lord Jesus as God's only begotten Son is a reflection of God, our Heavenly Father.  The message is:  We know all of these things affecting our world, yet we pay little attention to the heavenly things!

" When these spiritual things are the very bases of our salvation and of our guaranteed place in heaven!"

We worry too much on what we are going to wear, what we are going to eat and how we can amass wealth on earth, yet we could sideline God's commandments and keep on doing things which could separate us from God---sin!

Enjoy what the Lord has offered us on earth but God did not tell us to be obsessed with gambling, pornography, adultery, drunkenness and vanity in this world.  God did not tell us to hurt and be violent to people, to kill our own children, to freeze the dead and hope for immortality.  God did not tell us to take our lives, because life is sacred and only God determines death.  God did not tell us to end the lives of others in any way because in doing so, one becomes a small god and determine when life ends.    It is only God who has the power over life and death.  Man at times transgress this Holy Attribute of God.

God decides when a person dies, a moral and spiritual issue!

Let us pray today that God will give us the grace to know the sign of the times.  That God will grant us the wisdom to know what is right from what is wrong.  That God will give us the grace of faith and persistent prayer and communion with Him.  That God will instill in our hearts the desire to attend Mass and have full relationship with Him.  Through the powerful intercession of Mother Mary, St Joseph, St Michael the Archangel and all of the Angels and saints.  All of these prayers in the Most Holy Name of Jesus.  Amen
