"To you, I raise my eyes, to you enthroned in heaven. Yes, like the eyes of a servant on the hand of his master. Like the eyes of the maid on the hand of his mistress. So our eyes are on the Lord our God till we are shown favor." (Ps 123: 1-2). The Catholic Answer Bible
The Psalmist says it rightly! This is the way when we pray, when we show our reliance on God. We raise our eyes to the one enthroned in heaven, waiting. It may take days, weeks, months or years. Somehow, we do not know what will happen but from our hearts, we firmly believe, something good is going to happen.
Remember the Bible passage when the Lord expressed that "though a mother will forget you, but I will never forget or abandon you." God never desert us, although at times, we feel alone and dejected. All of us experience that sometimes. With optimism and courage, we lift our eyes to the Lord and plead... We never plead to anyone but God alone.
When things go astray, when things seems to fail despite of our perseverance, we only have to plead to God to help us. God, in all His goodness and mercy will find a way for you. It could be a friend who will help us, a government provision, a church assistance, etc. Yes, provision will come! Faith is needed. God hears the cry of the poor, blessed be the Lord!
Let us pray today for the gift of wisdom on how to pray with humility, with our eyes focused on God alone. We also pray that we will be given the gift of patience, of waiting on the Lord's timing.
Dear Lord, we have a conviction that we will wait on you, on yor will for our lives. We would like to pray that as your children, give us Lord the answers to our petitions at your deemed appointed time. We are yours, so we will ponder your will on how we will lead our lives with your guidance. In Jesus Name. Amen.
