"Fear the Lord thy God and serve Him."
We tend to fear a lot of things, fear of height, fear of snakes, fear of spiders, etc but on one hand, there's really nothing to fear except God! When we serve God, we serve with fear and trembling. This fear is not the ordinary fear, but fear of a King out of love.
Sometimes, we are in a dilemma! In everything we do, God takes priority! I know how difficult it is. Faced with a thousand of things to do for family, we face a question! Are we going to do this first or one for our family.
But why, one will ask? One has to attend a footy, a drink with a pal, relax in a beach and hundreds of excuses. Well, fair enough! But, are we going to miss to attend worship for God? No, no no!
God created the heavens and the earth and God created man in his image. It was very clear: Honour the Sabbath day. It is a day of worship and for Christians, attending Mass for that matter.
One has six days to labour and to work and only one day to set aside for God! But, we do not take this literally. If one is a doctor saving lives on a Sunday, that becomes his form of service for the Lord because he is doing these things for the glory of God. It is good not to replace God with other idols, revelry, lust for vices especially on a day dedicated for God. Come, think of it! All days are of God's and God must be in all our days.
Just a day, can't we think about God, our Creator, our Fortress and Deliverer? It's time to recollect our moments.
Let us pray: God Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, grant us the grace to use this day for your glory. That we may feel you, think about you and all of your kindness, goodness and mercy. That we may love you with all of our heart, mind and soul. That we may keep your Sabbath holy. All in the most Holy Name of Jesus. Amen.
