1 Timothy 6: 17-19
"Instruct those who are rich in this world's goods that they should not be proud and should set their hopes not in money, which is untrustworthy, but on God who gives us richly all that we need for our happiness. They are to do good and be rich in good works, generous in giving and always ready to share---this is the way they can amass a good capital sum for the future if they want to possess the only life that is real." (1 Tim 6: 17-19).
These passages are meant for rich Christians during that time. On the other hand, it can also extend to this generation. It was very clear that God looks on this life as only a temporary abode for the final real life. Hence, rich people are meant to share what they have --- to the poor and needy.
Charity to the poor is a good thing. Not all are blessed with material things but those who have more could share their blessings. Then, God who is the very source of generosity will reward those who sincerely help the poor and marginalised. "Is there anyone who become poor by giving?"
