Then God said (To Abraham) “Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about. Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. Hen he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. Gen 22:2-4
This chapter is full emotions, which are brought under the Plan of God, and we see Abraham’s obedience to God triumphs over his emotion. How much he must have suffered on the way….every step must have been like walking on nails for him. What could be going through Abraham’s mind binding his son? Taking out his knife to kill his son……what was going on? What can we learn from Abraham? Painful obedience! That is what God asks of each of us in a painful situation, to obey Him no matter what it costs us. It’s the most difficult thing to do, let us pray each day, for the grace to obey the Lord, no matter what He is asking us to do.
