THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS (Forwarded by Thomas Philip Ranni)

December 25th is the most sacred day of Christians. No doubt Christ is the greatest central fact and attraction in the World’s history. The Birth and Death of Jesus Christ is very famous in the history of the world.

Who is Jesus? He was born in a unknown village, as the child of a humble woman. He didn’t go to school. He did not possess any office or property. He never had a family. He never wrote any book. But the teachings of Jesus are greatest and unique.

What is the meaning of Christmas? Is it attending Christmas Carole service in the church and eating delicious food, drink liquor and enjoying without thinking the hungry and needy masses? Do you have a personal relationship with Christ?

What is the Christmas Spirit? Charles Dickens lamented “Would that the spirit of Christmas could live within our hearts every day of the year.” Yes, Christ should live in our hearts every day. That is the meaningful Christmas!

Without having the spirit of His love and compassion there can be no real celebration of Christmas! In Mathew chapter 12 Jesus said to His disciples that “I desire mercy and not sacrifice” and that is greater than temple to Jesus. We find a compassionate Jesus weeping at the tomb of His beloved friend Lazarus.
Are we compassionate and charitable to other human being? Now the whole world is craving for a little bit of mercy and compassion. There are several millions of people starving on this beautiful and rich earth. Lot of people are sick and broken hearted. So many are harassed. On the day of Judgment God will be asking one very important question to us. In Mathew chapter 25:42-43 we read as “ For I was hungry and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink. I was a stranger and you didn’t take Me in, I was naked and you did not clothe Me, I was sick and in prison and you didn’t take care of Me.” Today is the important day to remember this.

Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth, and Life.” The Christmas is a way of happiness and Peace. God’s greatest gift is peace. “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people He favors.” No one is so happy and peaceful as a true Christian, the Christian, I meant the follower of Christ. David said “ But the joy that you have given me is more than they will ever have with all their corn and wine. When I lie down, I go to sleep in peace. You alone O, LORD, keep me perfectly safe. This is the meaning of Christmas. Today so many thousands of people are not sleeping in the night due to anxiety, worry, and care, because they are faraway from the God, the Prince of Peace.
