“When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you collect? They said to him, ‘Twelve.’ And the seven for the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you collect?’ And they said to him, ‘Seven.’ Then he said to them, ‘Do you not yet understand?’ Mk 8: 19-21
Even the apostles miss the point during that time. How much more with us, the ordinary faithful. Sometimes, we prioritise the physical food over the spiritual food of heaven to the point of gluttony! What we have to eat: with obsession, what restaurants are the best? We did not say that one will not seek the finer things in life. What we meant is which is more important? When one internalise that the Eucharist, The Body of Christ and the Word of God must be prioritised, then the other physical bread is relegated to the background. Just like, “No one can have God and mammon at the same time, no one can have God and obsession with food at the same time. He will hate one and love the other! God bless.
