“Before Abraham ever was, I am” Thus says the Lord: Reflection by Cynthia Abegail

“The Jews then said, ‘You are not fifty yet, and you have seen Abraham!’  Jesus replied, ‘In all truth I tell you, before Abraham ever was, I am.’ (Jn 8:57-58)

This gospel showed the divinity of Jesus.  He is the eternal Son of God and a true reflection of the Father (Letter to the Hebrews 1).  It is a mystery, yet if one reflect deeply, God sent His Son into the world for a purpose — the salvation of all.

See, there is someone greater than Abraham.  The great saint Thomas Aquinas explained this mystery fully well.  On the other hand, an ordinary person could also decipher the eternal mysteries by asking from the Lord, the gift of wisdom.

We will get knowledge from the Lord Almighty, by grace alone.  The resources are rich, yet we should ask for this gift of wisdom that could enlighten our path towards eternal life.
