“Come” Thus says the Lord: Reflection by Prayer Aid

“Lord, if it’s you” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water”  “Come” He said.  Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came towards Jesus.  Matthew 14:28-29
Peter did three things, 1. He got out of the boat  2. He walked on water on the strength of the Word Jesus spoke.   These are the two things we need to do in any situation.  We need to get out of our boat and hold on to the Word of God if we want to walk on the water, walk in faith.   If we remain in our situation dwelling on it our anxiety will increase – if we put the situation aside and walk trusting God’s Word we will be at peace.   But it’s a difficult walk – the twhird thing Peter did was to take his eyes off Jesus and notice the winds and he sank…Jesus said “Why did you doubt”  Let us not doubt, but have a little more faith! (Thanks to Jane for this inspiring reflection about St Peter’s doubt on walking on the water.  Well, we all fail sometimes.  Superb!).  Cynthia Abegail for New World
