The Crucifixion of Jesus: Reflection by Cynthia Abegail
”When it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. At three o’clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, ‘Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?’ which means ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?...Then Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last. And the temple of the curtain was torn in two, from top to bottom. Now, when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way, he breathed his last, he said, ‘Truly this man was God’s Son!’
All worries, all anxieties about the future will not help us. There is only One Way, Jesus Christ—- our Redeemer. The focus of the Good Friday services is to focus on the salvation of our souls. The Blood of Jesus says it all! The love and mercy of God is limitless and encompassing. Jesus paid for our sins, fully paid in full!
We are not going to be saved by our works. Salvation is a gift from God. Hence, when we sin, we do not do good works to cover for our sins! We go to confession and with contrite hearts ask for forgiveness of God. The focus is God because we can’t do anything by our own merits. Doing that will amount to pride, which was the cause of the First Fall.
“Come”said the Lord! Come back to Jesus and His Precious Blood will be the antidote to the poison of sin.
Nothing is too late! The time is now. Let us repent of our sins to live with the Lord in the next life, a life of bliss and joy. No more tears, no more suffering. Praise and glory to you Lord Jesus Christ, by the Holy Spirit, in the glory of Almighty Father. Amen.
