The Prodigal Son: Reflection by Cynthia Abegail

“Bring the calf we are fattening, and kill it; we will celebrate by having a feast, because this son of mine was dead and has come back to life; he was lost and is found.”  (Lk 15)

This gospel is one of the most classic in the whole of the Holy Scriptures.  Why?  It is because it demonstrates the Attribute of Almighty God, the one of great Mercy and Love!  Years and years in the Church, leaders stressed this  God’s message not only in words but mostly in deed.  This pictures the accurate approach to sinners as well as to all  of us because all sinned and failed and strayed.

Let us reach out to our brothers and sisters who strays with love and compassion.  This attitude is not easy especially to those who attack us and criticize us.  It takes so much patience to welcome them back again!  If God has been so generous to forgive our shortcomings, why can’t we forgive them?

Let us pray that God will grant us the grace of a forgiving heart, a heart that never runs out of love, a heart that is pure and not proud.  Lord, hear our prayer through the powerful intercession of Mother Mary, St Joseph, St Michael the Archangel, all of the angels and saints.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
