Be vigilant and pray always:, Reflection by Cynthia Abegail
“So long as a strong man fully armed guards his own home, his goods are undisturbed; but when someone stronger than himself attacks and defeats him, the strong man takes away the weapons he relied on and shares out his spoil.” Lk 11:22
Prayer is of utmost importance in our lives after Holy Mass which is the apex of Christian life. Reading the Holy Bible comes next.
Why? If we are not armed with the spiritual warfare, we are like just rag dolls at the hand of the enemy. We must always be on guard like a watchman at night. We must be vigilant because the enemy attacks us on our points of weaknesses such as pride, love of money, love of material things in the world, works of the flesh, vices and so on.
This spiritual battle is serious that priests, nuns and the lay faithful adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament day and night. The enemy is like a roaring lion waiting for the opportunity to snare us to sin! Be alert and pray for yourself and your family.
As in Ephesians 6, St Paul reminds us that we are not battling just against the flesh, but against principalities of wickedness in darkness! We must be ready for defence: Peace, love and unity are antidotes to these poisonous evil beings. We must always pray unceasingly. As a line of offense, the Word of God must be read, spread and proclaimed. God did not leave us empty-handed. We only have to listen to God’s Voice. Amen. Praise God Almighty!
