Saint Joseph of Nazareth
Just and upright as a tree that stands,
A humble love of Mary by the sands
Truly puzzled that she is with a child
Ovewhelmed but still quiet and mild!
Dreaming, saw an angel of the Lord
Echoes, "Be not afraid to take Mary!"
Be still, child from the Holy Spirit
Name him Jesus, Light will be lit!
Days of old the good prophet cried,
Behold, the virgin shall conceive
They shall name him Emmanuel
Why? Rejoice, God is with us!
One hazy dawn knocking by the inn,
No room, the son of the Most High?
Walked to the stable not so mean
Saw gleeful animals oh! not rye...
The poor shepherds sat full of wonder,
A bright, bright star shone in yonder
Three kings knelt of loving reverence
God love us, whispered in ambience!
Joseph felt honored to be chosen,
Guardian of the riches of heaven
Pensive not moody of pleasure
Found a treasure beyond azure!
Terror of darkness not only sword,
Flee at his sight, power from God!
A just, holy man seen by his word
Grace from heaven, gift of the Lord..
