“For when I am weak, I am strong, “Reflection by Cynthia Abegail”

“For although if I should wish to boast, I would not be foolish, for I would be telling the truth.  But I refrain, so that no one may think more of me more of me than what he sees in me or hears from me because of the abundance of the revelations.  Therefore that I may not become too elated, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, an angel of Satan, to beat me to keep me from being too elated.  Three times, I begged the Lord about this, that it might leave me, but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient  for you, for Power is made perfect in weakness.  I may rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me.  Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ, for when I am weak, then I am strong.”  (2 Cor 12: 6-10).

Sometimes, we think that the display of man’s power is the best.  For St Paul showed the right perspective.  God’s power is more manifested in weaknesses and failures and disappointments.  When miracles happen in these people and situations, it is extremely obvious that God is at work in mysterious ways.  We do not attribute the success to ourselves but to God alone.

For the glory is not ours!  We serve the Lord and we only get the strength from Him.  “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to His people in good will!”  Absolutely, when we attribute power by ourselves, that is pride and vanity —two of the most deadly sins!

I will praise the Lord all the days of my life!  His glory is beyond understanding.  I gain my joy and strength only from Him.  I will serve Him forever because He loves us and in return we must profess allegiance to Him always, unending from the rising of the sun to its setting.  Praise God!!!
