Proclaim the gospel to all creation: Mk 16: 15-18 Reflection by Cynthia Abegail
“Jesus showed himself to the Eleven and said to them, ‘Go out to the whole world; proclaim the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These are the signs that will be associated with believers: in my name they will cast out devils; they will have the gift of tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover. (Mk 16: 15-18).

A great commission! In the same way as the apostles are told to proclaim the Good News to all, we are also asked to spread the gospel based on the primacy of St Peter and the apostles of the Lord.
It was very clear, belief or unbelief, salvation or condemnation. We cannot dilute or water 💦 down the message of Good News for the sake of compromise or complacency. Of course, we have to proclaim it gently but the truth must pervade. Hence, Christians are persecuted for their faith. It is the Lord already saying it, who else will we believe?
Those who believe will not be left empty handed. Actually, the grace is overwhelming! In Jesus Name, the full believer, not the lukewarm one, will cast out devils. Why? Because when one believes, Jesus will be with that person. We could not cast out devils by our own, no matter how strong one’s faith is, Only by His Name and Power. Hence, by the Holy Name of Jesus Christ,...
Remember St Benedict who was planned to be poisoned; the cup of drink with poison broke when he blessed it in the Name of Jesus and the poison was wasted. One will also lay one’s hands on the sick and they will recover! Only in the Most Holy Name of Jesus! Praise be to God Almighty...
