“I am the gate, thus says the Lord.” Reflection by Cynthia Abegail
“I am the gate. Anyone who enters through me will be safe; such a one will go in and out and will find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and live it to the full.” Jn 10: 9-10

It is very important that we enter the right gate. In life, sometimes one enters the wrong gate full of wolves and snakes that that one perish not only physically but spiritually.
When the Lord says, “I am the gate,” it’s definite. It’s the truth , so it is good to listen! Other ways are risky, dangerous and treacherous. The Lord’s gate leads to abundance, freedom and joy. Look at the sheep in the farm. They frolic, relish and are joyful because the shepherd led them to the green and lush pasture.
God inspires us to enter His presence and to abide in Him. These are not empty promises but will come to fulfilment. He will give us “life to the full.” Life is not dull or drab, it is not without joy; it could be with suffering but with joyful hearts because God gives us the strength to weather our problems. It is not like “dead man walking.” It is an alive man walking and moving freely around the gateway to refreshment.
When we enter His gate, we are not in want. Just like what David said, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. Though I walk in the valley of shadow and death, I shall fear no evil, for He is with me all the days of my life.” Quoted from Ps 23.
Let us enter His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts! Praise God through all the earth.
