One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, "Do you want to get well?"John 5:5-6
Today, Jesus is asking us the same questions.“Do you want to be well?”“Do you want me to relieve you of that burden? That illness? ”We want to say ‘yes’ but we wonder ‘will He really do it for me?’“Am I worth this healing to Jesus?”“Maybe He will keep me waiting” whatever your arguments are believe in your heart that Jesus is asking you that question “Do you want to be well?”Surrender your problem to Him….give it to Jesus and try not to advise Him how to do what you are asking Him to do….surrender, then believe in your heart that He will do it. Don’t let any negative thoughts shake you, trust Jesus. The doubts will come, the fears will increase, and when this happens recall Jesus asking you “Do you want to be well?”Then remember how you have answered Him.Expect the healing - it will come.
(Thanks Jane Pimenta for this beautiful reflection on how God respects the dignity of each person by asking "Do you want to be well?" Healing will come, rest assured! It is the Lord who heals).
