All beings should bend the knee at the Name of Jesus: Philippians 2: 6-11: Reflection by Cynthia Abegail
“Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death—even death on the cross. Therefore God also exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, in the glory of God the Father.” (Phil 2:6-11)
Holy Week is journeying with the Lord, in solidarity with Him as He fulfill his mission for all men. Along the journey, we may have sorrow, suffering, joy and hardship. The goal of our journey is not loneliness but at the end, freedom and peace.
We ought to submit our will to God and God’s mission. Let us totally get rid of our desire to subjugate others but be a servant to God and to the service of the poor, the needy and to our marginalised brothers and sisters.
The core is humility! If the Lord is humble to empty himself, why not us? Let us pray that God will help us get rid of the traces of pride, greed, envy, jealousy and works of the flesh in our very soul. Thus, our journey with the Lord this Holy Week will be free from encumbrances. We will thus receive the peace that surpasses understanding. Amen.
