“Jesus said to the Pharisees, ‘There was a rich man who used to dress in purple and fine linen and Feast magnificently everyday. And at his gate there used to lie a poor man called Lazarus, covered with sores, who longed to fill himself with what fell from the rich man’s table. Even dogs came and licked his sores. Now it happened that the poor man died and was carried away by the angels into Abraham’s embrace. . The rich man also died and was buried. In his torment in Hades, he looked up and saw Abraham a long way off with Lazarus in his embrace. So he cried out, “Father Abraham, pity me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue for I am in agony in these flames.’” (Lk 16:19-24).
A great danger is for those who do not believe in heaven and hell. Even the great saints attests to this truth, eg St Faustina re: Divine Mercy message. It’s not a good place to spend eternity as the story goes in the gospel. Who would like to be in eternal fire that never quench? A place of gnawing worms, filth, emptiness, bleak and disgusting? Even the rich man was full of regret because he thought he should have done better. Sometimes, it may be late to say Sorry! So, while there is still time, let us run to the Lord and prostrate before God Alnighty ask for his forgiveness. We sin, that’s the truth! But God is ready to forgive us always! Why not take this opportunity to give us the opportunity to go to Heaven by His grace and mercy alone? Time is running, we have to be vigilant. For death comes like a thief in the night, even now there is a thief during the bright day. Let us serve the Lord, repent while there is still time! So we would be like Lazarus, in the future, to enjoy the solace of Paradise...
