“You have the poor with you always, you will not always have me: Reflection by Cynthia Abegail

“Mary brought in a pound of very costly ointment, pure nard, and with it anointed the feet of Jesus, wiping them with her hair...Then Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, the man who was to betray him —-said, ‘Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?’...So Jesus said, “Leave her alone, let her keep it for the day of my burial.  You have the poor with you always, you will not always have me.”  ( Jn 12: 1-11).

What are we doing this Holy Week?  Are we spending time with Jesus?  Do we read God’s Word daily?  Then others may say, “I am busy.”  Was God too busy not to care for you?  Was God too busy to answer your prayers?  No!  God is always there for you.  He loves you!

Holy Week is here for a season.  How can we prove our love for God?  By obeying His Word, by being there with Him; adoring Him always.  Pray, meditate on His Word.  Is that too much?

Let us pray that this Holy Week, we may regard as Holy, a special time to recollect how God loves us.  How we need to thank God for sending His Son Jesus to save us from the pits of hell.  We need to thank Him for welcoming us to Heaven, to live eternally with Him in bliss and joy.  Thanks be to God.  Amen
