LAC ASSAL
Severe hot conditions make this lake the "saltiest body in the world." This lake lies in the Danakil Desert, Africa. Surprisingly, this region once had a wet climate. The level of the lake before was 80 m above the present level, 10,000 years ago.

Lac Assal has a severe high evaporation rate. This is the reason why almost dry riverbeds form during the hot season. However, the water rage like torrents during the wet season. A fascinating place!
