AS YOU LOOK INTO HEAVEN: POEM BY CYNTHIA ABEGAIL
AS YOU LOOK INTO HEAVEN
The children singing, as it usher the birth
As prophesied by Isaiah---Emmanuel
Calm was your face, like Mary echoes
A great pondering in her heart shows.
God has chosen you to proclaim Him,
A shadow of the Lord without dim
Loved the child, the sick and poor
Captivated the world, fire of gold!
A glimpse of your eyes with serenity,
Like a doe, look up into the heavens
Great love for God, as bells rung,
Utmost position, beacons humility.
Bread and wine you offer...
To the Almighty, Creator of all,
As you look into heaven, it opens
Blessings abound---evil flew!
Fame means nothing to you---
Eyes focused on Jesus alone,
The poor all reaches to you,
As you shepherd the lonely!
As you look into heaven, I know,
God favoured you now to show
"I came for sinners, unrighteous,"
Not for the proud and haughty.
As you look into heaven, I know,
The gentleness in your eyes---
Showed the world the real God
Of mercy, love and of justice.
The flock gathers, teary-eyed,
Emmanuel has come, seeking
For the hearts which stray,
As you look into heaven---
