Jesus is our inner strength: Reflection by Jane Pimenta of Prayer Aid Group

1st of May 2020
I’m not sure if I told you this story before.
Timothy McQuay, from Oklahoma,  lived his life as if he did not care where his soul went after he died.  One day he decided to bomb a bank.  He set his plan in motion and executed it one day.  The building in which the bank was, was shattered…….a huge tree more than 100 years, was bombed too.  Its branches were off, and the whole tree which once  stood tall giving shade to many was cut down drastically.   Of course no one noticed the tree as everyone’s attention was on recovering people alive and dead.  It took them more than a month to clean up the area.  One day someone saw that the tree that was badly shattered was once again beginning to grow shoots.  Small ones but green and alive.   How did that happen?  The tree was destroyed from outside but deep within, it still had a strong life that began to grow out once again.    “We are afflicted in everyway, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.”    Jesus is our inner strength, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. No matter what happens to us externally, we have the inner strength to bloom again.  (Very appropriate correlation of the tree’s inner strength and our inner strength in the Lord!  Excellent).  Cynthia Abegail for New World
