Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.8 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Cor 4:16-18
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. St Paul is encouraging us that no matter what things look like, we should not lose heart. No matter how ugly people get with us we should not lose heart. We may give into negative feelings and waste away for a while, but he encourages us still further, that all our problems are momentary troubles which will help us grow in faith. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus and what He can do for us (we cannot see how He is working things out) and not on what we can see!
