There are times that people are given gifts of intelligence and wisdom. It is a gift that is valuable and something that we have to thank God for.
On the other hand, it could be a gift that could be abused and be boastful about. For one, a person could become arrogant and look at others with contempt or disdain for stupidity or moronic tendencies. That is utterly wrong. When one is truly intelligent, he become more understanding and loving. He has more empathy for others. It is not an excuse that one is gifted, then insult other people.
Knowing God is the beginning of wisdom. This is not only academic wisdom, but a wisdom to love and care for people, a wisdom to stand for what is right. It is not a kind of wisdom that puts people down, but a wisdom that elevates people from their downtroddenness. It is not a wisdom that is puffed up and that presupposes oneself as superior to others. It is not a wisdom that labels people as morons or good- for-nothing.
It is not easy to balance our lives on earth. We have to be loving as a lamb, but wise as a serpent!
At the end of the day, we ask ourselves, "Have I been too mean or have I been gentle and caring in words and deeds?"
