Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind:
"Who is this that darkens counsel by words without
knowledge? Gird up your loins like a man, I shall
question you, and you shall declare to me.
Where were you when I laid the foundation of the
earth? Tell me if you have understanding.
Who determined it's measurements --- surely you
know! Or who stretched the line upon it? On what
were its bases sunk or who laid its cornerstone where
the morning stars sang together and all the heavenly
beings shouted for joy.
Job 30:1-7
NRSV Catholic Edition
* Job is an upright and righteous man, yet there was a
time that he questioned God out of his humanity. It is
a normal human reaction to be perplexed when some things
happen beyond one's control. As long as one is still respectful
of God and not blaspheme God, one could still be understood.
This is a story designed to give a deep morale about our
true place in Creation. Upon deep thought, we are children of
God, yet do we really dare to question our Creator? Since we
are part of God's creation, God knows everything about us.
God is the beginning and the end. When will we completely
trust in the Lord? One trusts one's doctor or car mechanic so
much! It is now high time to trust in the One who created
everything.
