It passes completely into God like a drop into the ocean

Notebook II (701). Divine Mercy by St Faustina Kowalska

"The soul bounds forward vehemently toward God, and the two loves come face to face: the Creator and the creature; (141) one little drop seeks to measure itself with the ocean.  At first, the little drop seeks to measure the ocean within itself; but at the same moment, it knows itself to be just one small drop, and thus it is vanquished, and it passes completely into God like a drop into the ocean.  At first, this moment is a torment, but so sweet that, on experiencing it, that soul is happy."  (penned by St Faustina Kowalska, Poland).

Reflection:

It is good to know our position in life.  Great is the person who recognise his or her nothingness before God, the Creator.  Then, humility pervades!  At that time, we do not think to disobey God.  We oblige to all of his commandments not because of a law but because we love him.  As our soul is fervent for Him, our soul is like a drop in the ocean assimilating with Ocean itself (metaphor), painful at first but blissful later for our soul.  We are encountering an awesome God, so our soul somewhat encounters a slight shock for this encounter, but after dissolving in the great mercy and love of God, the soul is happy!  Why?  Because our soul is in accord with the Source of Love, Good and Peace and True Happiness.  Praise be to God!  Alleluia!
