“Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head”: Jn 13: 6-9: Reflection by Maria Cassia

“He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, ‘Lord, are you going to wash my feet?’ Jesus answered, ‘You do not know what I am doing, but later you will understand.’  Peter said to him, ‘You will never wash my feet.’  Jesus answered, ‘Unless I wash you, you have no share with me.  Simon Peter said to him, ‘Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!’ (Jn 13:6-9).

We only live because of Him!  Hence, in whatever we do, we ask the Lord to bless us, to protect us and to make us happy and also to have peace in our mind, souls and wellbeing.  The Lord has to wash us from our sins.  The Lord  gave an example on how to live.  It ought to be a life of service, for the Lord and for our brothers and sisters.  It ought to be a life of humility.  The life we must live is a life influenced by the life of Jesus, how he seek the lost and marginalised, how he led a life of truth and poverty of spirit.  Thanks be to God, Amen.
