“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:1-4
There is an emptiness in each of us that sometimes gets scary, and we try a great deal to fill it. In the process we fil our lives with things that we think will take away that emptiness, only to discover later, that our emptiness still clings to us.
David was lonely and afraid on the hill every night, and he faced many dangers too, yet, in that situation he thought it best to turn in faith to the Lord. Today, let us do the same thing. Bring your emptiness, loneliness, frustrations, disappointments, depressions and give them to Jesus. Let us pray for the grace to be open to Him as He speaks through Psalm 23. “The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.”
