THE POWER OF GOD'S NAME (PSALM 8): REFLECTION BY CYNTHIA ABEGAIL

Yahweh, our Lord,
how majestic is your name throughout the world!
Whoever keeps singing of your majesty higher than the heavens
even though from mouth of children, or of babes in arms,
you make him a fortress, firm against your foes
to subdue the enemy and the rebel.
I look up at your heavens, shaped by your fingers,
at the moon and the stars you set firm---
what are human beings that you spare a thought for them,
or a child of Adam that you care for him?

                                                                       Ps 8: 1-4

*  The name of God spells majesty and glory.  It is just inherent
in God's Name.  Therefore, whenever the praise and worship of
God is happening, the diffusing of God's mighty transcendence
occurs.  Whenever the singing of praises resound throughout
the earth, God's glory sparkles like a juniper and coral, luminous
and pure!

A soul that is in love with God becomes a fortress against God's
enemies.  Why?  It is because that soul becomes engulfed in the
furnace of God's love.  When a soul becomes one with God, that
soul breathes the will of God, the likes of God.  Hence, this
soul is serious in battle against God's adversary.  The soul becomes
a forerunner of St John the Baptist, the one who prepared the
Way of the Lord.

The psalmist also noted that God cares for man and he wonders why.
"What are human beings that you spare a thought for them?"
God walked with man throughout history.  With its ups and downs,
God gently invites his people to come back to Him from the lore of
idolatry.  Idolatry is the camouflage of the enemy!  When the animals
camouflage just like a snake in a desert, it will go unnoticed.  This is
the same as idolatry.  Idolatry is masked as something pleasing but
it will lead finally to ruin---  idolatry to money, fame, vanity of the
world, vices as gambling and prostitution, the glamour and sparkle of
material world.  This could also be idolatry to paranormal activity,
psychic experiences, superstition, horoscopes and anything that harms
life as abortion, euthanasia, etc.  Be vigilant!  Come back, repent
from all evil in order to live for eternity.
