Gen 1:3 Reflection by Cynthia Abegail

God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.  (Gen 1:3)

There are serious implications in the first chapter of the Book of Genesis.  This passage shows that when God speaks, it happens.  Let us ponder on this "light."  God has mastery over light and even with the absence of light, darkness.  As we can see later in the creation, God separated night from day.

On the other hand, God likes us to see the light of day in our lives.  Except for some trials and tribulations which He can give us for our purification, God likes us to be happy now and in the afterlife.

This is the very reason why God sent His only Beloved Son, Jesus into the world.  That is, to save us from the clutches of sin and darkness, so as we will be with Him, our Heavenly Father when our natural life ends.

Let us come to terms with all of this!  Do we really like to spend eternity in heaven which is guaranteed as long as we accept Jesus as our Saviour.  Everything will fall into place.  God did not promise that our life on earth is perfect but God assured us that our life in eternity is blissful and peaceful.

A separation from our Creator in the future could be so painful.

Let us pray today that God gives us the grace to commence now and profess our belief in Jn 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."   If we make the right choice, bliss in eternity is assured by our beloved and faithful and ever- loving God!
