POEM: TO MY BELOVED: BY CYNTHIA ABEGAIL

TO MY BELOVED
POEM

How did I crave for you?
In vineyard full of grapes
As gazelle that hide anew
Of henna flowers to allure!

Am I a lily of the valleys?
Of buds of youth in love
Pinkish cheeks that glow
And lips not pale, O' scarlet...

Perfumes drift as magnolias,
This day from heights of dahlias
Scent from the woody terebinths
Mesmerises quest of neer dreams!

A lovely breeze, a swift of wind...
Here he comes, ebony enchanting
My beloved like a blossoming vine...
Heart leaped like a deer, in chime!

As if he comes from the desert,
Hid from him at cedar trees
As he gazed on the shadows
At diadems of utter billows!

The cypress reminds me of you,
Strong yet gentle, a delight to view---
You walked with the eyes of doves
Among the vines, scent of honey!

You ravished this heart of mine
Like a cedar that grew in heights
Sweetly scented, dew that looms,
Be my love, by the subtle dunes!
