“Love takes no pleasure in other’s sins but delight in the truth.” (1Cor 13:6)
One must not delight in what is evil. We must not side with injustice because we must promote what is the truth. For God is truth and love.
When we delight in immorality and say, “It’s ok,”we are not doing the right thing. It’s not a Puritan attitude but it’s based on the truth of the gospel. There is never a grey area in our beliefs. It’s either the truth or untruth. There is no middle ground as partially true or false.
Another context is if we delight in the sins and suffering of others. As people sin, they suffer the consequences. When we delight in other’s suffering, it’s not congruent to our faith. We help others but not delight in their tragedies. Love is kind!
We must abhor evil to the core. It is because of this evil that God sent His beloved Son into the world. At the same time that one does not judge sinners, it does not mean that we are happy in their sins. Love the sinner but hate the sin!
